Default R/Me barrage/epidemic build

First off, I'm kind of a new at making builds here, so this is just something I've put together for feedback. Basically it utilizes poison tip signet+keen arrow followed by epidemic and then barrage

Expertise 11+1
Marksmanship 10
Wilderness survival 10+1+1

barrage
poison tip signet
epidemic
keen arrow
serpent's quickness
troll unguent
some trap (was leaning towards barbed trap)
some interrupt

my plan for using this build would be to alternate the poison signet+keen arrow and epidemic with spamming barrage. The trap is kind of up in the air as is the interrupt (I was leaning towards choking gas).

I would appreciate constructive feedback eg. what to change, suggestions on what would work better than a certain skill I have, etc.

Remove the trap idea, it's not gonna work. Use D-Shot for the rupt. Troll Unguent is meh, monks can take care of that.
Lower Wilderness Survival, Serpent's Quickness isn't that important you can spam Barrage without it.
As for the poison / epidemic you'll have more damage output using Splinter Barrage, but that would ruin the idea.

Epidemic is a bad idea, it has too small of a range.

Traps suck, they have no use in general pve. If your farming its a different story, but thats being phased out also.

Serpents quickness is a waste of a slot.

Choking gas is a waste also. Not a multi tasker.

An interrupt you should bring is distracting shot, worship it since its one of the best skills you'll ever use.

I'd just run a splinter barrager, seeing as your not running this in hm.

I don't mean to be harsh, but this build is awful. Let's see what we can do to improve it.

Regarding epidemic: Two problems. First, you aren't using any conditions worth spreading in the first place. Spread dazed. Spread deep wound. Spread blind. Don't spread degen. Degen is weak in PvE. There's no point in dedicating a build to it. Second, adjacent is not a very big range. Even with good conditions to spread, its usefulness is very limited. If you're super serious about condition spreading, you do it with a mesmer elite - EC or FD.

The one epidemic ranger build that I don't consider total junk is "broadhepidemic" -- BHA + epidemic for AoE dazed, then volley to interrupt. It's not great, but it's passable, particularly when the rest of the skillslots are used well.

Meh, not really liking your build

If you want condition spamming either go BHA+epidemis or incendiary arrows and apply poison. You can add "you are all weaklings!" ymlad, and "finish him!" for better conditions. Change SQ to lightning reflexes, bestial fury, or druken master-IAS is better than IRT on a ranger. I'm not a fan of trapping in general pve, so I would think of maybe going /rt for splinter weapon. Ungent is fine, dshot is fine, keen i'd replace with hunter's shot.

Firstly, Apply Poison+Tab+Space is much better than Poison Tip Signet+Epidemic anywhere, any time. But because you're using Barrage, you wont have a use for Apply Poison, much less Choking Gas.

Second, raw damage is better than degen in PvE. If carrying Barrage, I'd use Lightning Reflexes or Drunken Master and Conjure Frost/Lightning with a hero carrying Splinter Weapon.

Why would I spend time to lay all my traps, lure enemies over the trap, wait for them to die, and then repeat 20 times?

I could just steamroll over them so much quicker with a bow build that works better with a team.

Its so annoying to see some noob ranger yelling in a party "lure them to my traps lul" or "dont kill i set traps, just wait"

Well i dont see the point of this build , Damage or Cond Spreading ? Barrage is "good" ( by that i mean suitable ) for the first matter and epidemic is "good" for the second .
For the atts , 8 or 7 points in WSurvival will suffice , Marks 12+ and Expertise 10+ . Depends ofc on what are you going to focus , damage or cond spreading.

derp
monsters always take the shortest route to a target, so if you have more than half a braincell, you'll know where to place your traps.

I do realise that traps aren't godmode, but they can be effective and it's still PvE, so nearly anything works

One monster could be ahead of the pack(because most mobs disperse), run in first, set off all the traps clearing the way for all the other enemies.

Most things do work in pve, but I like to be somewhat efficient.

0.5/10: Extremely Poor Quality Build

First off, the Signet ain't gonna work. It's a poor synergy with Barrage as it only poisons one foe. The trap is pointless as it's easily interrupting, even if you laid it down before aggroing, it won't do much damage and bleeding is kinda pointless. I would go R/Rt and put in Splinter Weapon. Then put in 1-2 interrupts (DS is good enough). For the next skill I recommend an IMS such as Lightning Reflexes. Serpents is also a poor skill choice in PvE. If you got spiked and your health dropped below 50%(which it most likely will in HM), its useless. If your heroes are good enough to heal, Troll is useless as well. It may be good in HM but definitely not in NM.
